If confidence were a draft strategy, the Giants would have aced it. Tanner McLachlan at the Round 7 slot is 64 spots clear of where he belonged.
The Oladapo pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
The Giants paired the rookies with proven help, Danielle Hunter leading the way. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 21 they get a ballhawk on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
They read the board right and Tyler Nubin was the payoff at pick 40. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Quinyon Mitchell slid further than he should have, and slot 41 is lovely value for the cornerback. It fills a real need, too.
Kamren Kinchens slipping to the 42nd overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nice patience on Brian Thomas Jr., who had no business lasting to the 43rd overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Byron Murphy II at pick 47 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
