The Giants lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. It grades a D+, and the process earned it.
Wiggins falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The Kamara reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Adding Malik Hooker by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a No. 1 receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Taking Dallas Turner in slot 39 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Nate Wiggins all the way to the 47th pick, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 25 with a little surplus value in Ja'Tavion Sanders. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Edgerrin Cooper slid further than he should have, and pick 70 is lovely value for the linebacker. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They read the board right and T'Vondre Sweat was the payoff at slot 71. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Adisa Isaac at pick 72. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jonathon Brooks at No. 73 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A tidy little value on Trey Benson in the Round 3 slot, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nice patience on Junior Colson, who had no business lasting to the 88th overall pick. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Value with a capital V on Roman Wilson in the 89th pick, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Christian Haynes in Round 3, Pick 27 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 91, where Mike Sainristil graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They did well to land McKinnley Jackson in pick 92, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zak Zinter. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Cade Stover in the 94th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
They paid sticker price for Michael Pratt in the 98th pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Jaden Hicks at Round 4, Pick 5 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Mohamed Kamara at No. 108 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It fills a real need, too.
They let Leonard Taylor III come to them and pounced at pick No. 125. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A cornerback of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Justin Eboigbe at Round 5, Pick 4 is the proof. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Fair-plus on Jordan Travis, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
