You build a draft on nights like this. Jadarian Price had no business being available in the 103rd overall pick, and the Jets did the only sane thing and turned in the card. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Allar proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 12 they get a three-down second-level presence at fair value. More want than need.
In the 16th pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end. Need was not the driver here.
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Colton Hood at No. 33 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at the 44th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They will replay Jadarian Price at the Round 4 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Drew Allar at slot 140 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Taylen Green at pick 179 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They liked Isaiah Jatta enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 228. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Trey Zuhn III in Round 7, Pick 26 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
