The Jets looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Haynes King at the Round 7 slot regardless, 66 picks early.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. With running back unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Hurst.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 16 they get a three-down second-level presence, outstanding value to boot.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Sonny Styles while clear needs at running back sat open.
Gabe Jacas in pick 33 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No drama and no debate, Caleb Banks went about where he belonged in No. 38. A need, and now a little less of one.
A slide stopped in the 44th pick, with Dillon Thieneman worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Chase Bisontis at slot 59 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
They let Ted Hurst come to them and pounced at No. 103. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A real head-scratcher, George Gumbs Jr. in pick No. 140 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had cheaper options than Ephesians Prysock at slot 179, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Trey Zuhn III in pick 228 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Haynes King well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
