The Jets did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Cam Skattebo fell into the Round 6 slot. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. If Dart pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 7th overall pick they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Warren at the 42nd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Jaxson Dart in pick 46 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Demetrius Knight Jr. in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
They will replay Malachi Moore at pick No. 144 for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jake Majors in slot 155 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
You do not let a running back like Cam Skattebo reach Round 6, Pick 9 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Connor Colby at No. 206 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
