The Taulia Tagovailoa pick is the one that will follow the Patriots into the fall. They took him 45 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Spending an early pick on TE-EDGE with edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
However the rest shakes out, Jordan at that price is a win they earned.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
A want over a need in the 74th pick: Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE while edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots keeps waiting.
They paid sticker price for Christian Mahogany in No. 76, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Matt Goncalves at pick No. 103 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Beaux Limmer in slot 104 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Ben Sinnott in the 139th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Taulia Tagovailoa this early at pick No. 182. It fills a real need, too.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jawhar Jordan in the Round 7 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
