You build a draft on nights like this. Dominic Lovett had no business being available in Round 7, Pick 6, and the Chargers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Barrett has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th overall pick they get a security blanket over the middle. A clean fit for the roster.
Jordan Morgan in No. 37 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Rod Moore in slot 69 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Zak Zinter worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Mike Sainristil in pick No. 142 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid a round early for Michael Barrett in Round 6, Pick 8, more than the board wanted. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Dominic Lovett in the 226th pick, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
