They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th pick they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Adonai Mitchell in the 34th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jordan Morgan in pick 68 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No edge and no loss on Will Shipley in slot 104; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good price on Ben Sinnott in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board had Luke McCaffrey higher than No. 182, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Frank Gore Jr. in pick No. 229 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
