Call it larceny. Jay Higgins sat on the board until the 231st pick, and the Dolphins did not need to be asked twice.

Reaching for Mertz left real value on the table behind him. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
