There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Dolphins started one anyway for Jalen Rivers, 97 picks ahead of schedule. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Kiser. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an enforcer at safety. More want than need.
Tyler Booker slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 16 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The roster fit checks out.
The board had Barrett Carter higher than the 98th pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jake Majors at No. 114 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Cam Skattebo here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Mason Taylor at pick 149 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached into another round for JJ Pegues, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A real head-scratcher, Graham Mertz in the Round 7 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jalen Rivers well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jack Kiser in pick 252 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
