You build a draft on nights like this. Jack Kiser had no business being available in pick No. 252, and the Dolphins did the only sane thing and turned in the card. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They are betting Oliver proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 13 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Circle this one: Nick Emmanwori at the 48th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Dylan Fairchild at slot 98 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Barrett Carter in No. 114 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Tai Felton was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 32, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They barely believed it either: Cam Skattebo still on the board at the 149th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Mason Taylor at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value said wait; Thor Griffith in pick 224 says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They talked themselves into Collin Oliver at slot 231, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 252nd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
