The Cardinals spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Tez Johnson, the No. 94 name on the board, in the 148th overall pick. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A real need, handled.
The board had Tyler Booker higher than slot 47, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They read the board right and Jalen Royals was the payoff at pick No. 78. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Jeffrey Bassa in Round 4, Pick 13, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tez Johnson at the 148th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
