The trade table was a mismatch, and the Raiders were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They banked enough surplus on Hunter to cover a lot of smaller sins. The Tariq Woolen pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Byron Murphy II at the 16th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for J.J. McCarthy in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Junior Colson. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
By-the-book stuff, Malachi Corley at No. 78 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A slide stopped in slot 112, with Dominick Puni worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jarrian Jones in the 118th pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Malik Mustapha at pick No. 150 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Fair-plus on Ethan Driskell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jontrey Hunter in Round 7, Pick 14 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Blake Watson slid further than he should have, and slot 236 is lovely value for the running back. It fills a real need, too.
