You build a draft on nights like this. Troy Franklin had no business being available in pick 70, and the Chargers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
Every board in the league had Williams lower, and that gap is the story. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end. A clean fit for the roster.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kamari Lassiter. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Steal is underselling it; Troy Franklin at the 70th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cam Hart in pick No. 106 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Cedric Gray at pick 143 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They robbed the room for Ainias Smith here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
