Green Bay Packers

The Packers worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Packers spent No. 154 on Gabe Hall, a name the board had a full 53 spots lower.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Spending an early pick on DT-EDGE with quarterback and tight end open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Puka Nacua gives the group a proven body among the projects.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.10 · Pick 42 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 39
Tyler Guyton in pick 42 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R2.14 · Pick 46 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 66
Javon Bullard at Round 2, Pick 14 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R2.19 · Pick 51 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 58
A straight-up fair deal on Edgerrin Cooper at the 51st pick, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Trey Benson · RB · rank 72
Trey Benson at No. 63 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Sedrick Van Pran · C · rank 90
Sedrick Van Pran at the Round 3 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Maason Smith · DT-EDGE · rank 87
Of all the spots to shop, they chose DT-EDGE. Maason Smith in the 78th overall pick leaves quarterback and tight end for later.
R3.17 · Pick 81 · Christian Haynes · OG · rank 77
Good price on Christian Haynes in slot 81, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.18 · Pick 82 · Johnny Wilson · WR · rank 75
Johnny Wilson at No. 82 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 82
Mike Sainristil at the Round 3 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.30 · Pick 93 · Cade Stover · TE-EDGE · rank 94
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went TE-EDGE with Cade Stover while clear needs at quarterback and tight end sat open.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 105
The board had cheaper options than Khyree Jackson at the 97th pick, and it noticed. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 121
A reach on Darius Robinson in the 104th overall pick; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.21 · Pick 121 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 155
A big swing on Braelon Allen at Round 4, Pick 21, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.31 · Pick 131 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 139
A curious use of pick 131. Quarterback and tight end needed the pick; a safety in Malik Mustapha did not.
R5.18 · Pick 154 · Gabe Hall · DL · rank 207
Gabe Hall at the Round 5 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
