Thirty-one other rooms let Jordan Magee slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at the 233rd overall pick. Highway robbery. Call it a C and check back in two years.
The Irving pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Marshawn Kneeland in the 56th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Braelon Allen at the 73rd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They talked themselves into Bucky Irving at Round 3, Pick 24, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Fabien Lovett in the Round 5 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They barely believed it either: Dwight McGlothern still on the board at pick 216. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jordan Magee in No. 233 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jordan Whittington in slot 244. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
