The Packers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending slot 255 on Khalid Duke a full 37 spots early.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. With quarterback, tight end and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.28 · Pick 28 · Graham Barton · OT · rank 25
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 49
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in the 47th pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Kris Jenkins · DL-EDGE · rank 50
The board had Kris Jenkins higher than the 58th overall pick, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 57
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Payton Wilson while clear needs at quarterback, tight end and other spots sat open.
R3.23 · Pick 86 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 104
Cole Bishop at the Round 3 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Trey Benson · RB · rank 87
They did well to land Trey Benson in slot 91, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.30 · Pick 93 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 88
A tidy little value on Dominick Puni in Round 3, Pick 30, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Elijah Jones · CB · rank 115
They read the board right and Elijah Jones was the payoff at the 126th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Johnny Wilson · WR · rank 125
A tidy bit of business in slot 135, where Johnny Wilson graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 154
Kitan Oladapo at No. 141 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · KT Leveston · OT · rank 242
A reasonable price with a little left over, KT Leveston in pick 245. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Khalid Duke · DE-EDGE · rank 292
Khalid Duke in pick No. 255 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
