The trade table was a mismatch, and the Packers were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
It is not that Bishop is a bad player; it is that the Packers had louder needs to answer first. Reaching for Bishop left real value on the table behind him.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. That Tampa pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
Jordan Morgan in No. 35 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Edgerrin Cooper at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kris Jenkins at pick No. 58. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nice patience on T.J. Tampa, who had no business lasting to pick 64. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ruke Orhorhoro in the 70th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Renardo Green in slot 74 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, running back and other spots to take Cole Bishop, a safety that was not the priority.
Beaux Limmer at the 107th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
