The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jha'Quan Jackson fell into slot 219. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
The cost of the Harrell reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 28th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
They robbed the room for Cooper DeJean here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay T.J. Tampa at the Round 3 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at pick 71 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board had Mike Sainristil higher than slot 89, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
MarShawn Lloyd at No. 91 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Blake Fisher at pick No. 123 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Sataoa Laumea at the 126th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
James Williams in pick 127 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor itch, scratched.
The board fumbled Elijah Jones all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A wild overpay on Jaylen Harrell in the 169th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Walter Rouse in slot 202 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Jha'Quan Jackson was still sitting there in No. 219, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Trey Knox at the 245th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
You do not let a running back like Frank Gore Jr. reach pick No. 253 and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Circle this one: Edefuan Ulofoshio at Round 7, Pick 35 is a fall that decides a draft. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
