Thirty-one other rooms let Deontae Lawson slide, and the Patriots were the ones holding the card at pick No. 143. Highway robbery. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The cost of the Barron reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The veteran additions, Terrion Arnold chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Booker at the 38th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Fair-plus on Alfred Collins, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They did well to land Malachi Moore in Round 3, Pick 13, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Circle this one: Deontae Lawson at pick No. 143 is a fall that decides a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Ollie Gordon II at No. 217 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jared Wilson in the 238th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
