The real work happened on the phones. The Packers fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The Mims pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Travis lower, and that gap is the story.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary. The biggest hole, addressed.
They will replay Amarius Mims at the Round 2 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
They went early on Jonathon Brooks in pick No. 57, and the value did not follow. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Gabriel Murphy at No. 88 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Brenden Rice here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
They jumped the gun on Jordan Travis, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Cedric Gray at No. 135 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Fair-plus on Bryson Nesbit, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They let Jalen Green come to them and pounced at pick 246. It adds depth where they could use a little.
