The Dani Dennis-Sutton pick is the one that will follow the Bears into the fall. They took him 24 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. However the rest shakes out, Hecht at that price is a win they earned. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the defensive front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They read the board right and Emmanuel McNeil-Warren was the payoff at No. 57. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Dani Dennis-Sutton in slot 62 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Davison Igbinosun at the 89th overall pick is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Sam Hecht in Round 4, Pick 11 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nothing to complain about; Jack Endries went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Zavion Thomas in slot 239. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A tidy bit of business in Round 7, Pick 25, where Thaddeus Dixon graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A big swing on Jack Kelly at No. 246, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
