When the story of this class is written, it opens with Trajan Jeffcoat at the Round 7 slot, a reach of 53 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
The Dixon steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The back end got a real overhaul.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a lockdown presence outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyler Nubin at No. 41 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Chris Braswell at the 58th overall pick is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Max Melton slipping to Round 3, Pick 25 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Michael Hall Jr. in the 91st pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
Nice patience on Jarvis Brownlee Jr., who had no business lasting to pick No. 126. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Dylan Laube at the 169th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jha'Quan Jackson in slot 202 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Circle this one: Johnny Dixon at pick No. 219 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Josh Proctor. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Trajan Jeffcoat at No. 255 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
