Green Bay Packers

The Packers robbed the room for Phillips. Final grade: B+.

Future B-

You could see the war room lean forward. Andru Phillips at the Round 6 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 19
In pick 25 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.22 · Pick 54 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 34
Circle this one: Kamren Kinchens at the 54th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Graham Barton · OT · rank 50
Graham Barton at slot 57 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The roster fit checks out.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jalen McMillan · WR · rank 81
Jalen McMillan in Round 3, Pick 25 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · McKinnley Jackson · DL · rank 88
McKinnley Jackson in the 91st overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.33 · Pick 96 · Tyler Davis · DT · rank 96
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Davis at pick No. 96, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Jamari Thrash · WR · rank 92
Jamari Thrash at No. 97 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Dillon Johnson · RB · rank 118
Nothing to complain about; Dillon Johnson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 122
Nice patience on Sataoa Laumea, who had no business lasting to No. 135. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Andru Phillips · CB · rank 170
Steal is underselling it; Andru Phillips at pick No. 203 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.36 · Pick 211 · JD Bertrand · LB · rank 195
Value with a capital V on JD Bertrand in the 211th overall pick, a genuine coup. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · De'Corian Clark · WR · rank 200
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing De'Corian Clark in pick 217. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 197
Christian Jones at the 219th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · BJ Mayes · CB · rank 230
BJ Mayes at Round 7, Pick 23 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Zion Logue · DL · rank 250
Zion Logue in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
