It is the swing that defines the weekend: Nadame Tucker in Round 4, Pick 26, a good 50 spots before the room expected him. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. The Golday steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Nice patience on KC Concepcion, who had no business lasting to slot 34. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Jake Golday here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nadame Tucker at the 126th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
DeMonte Capehart at pick No. 143 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They did well to land Beau Stephens in Round 5, Pick 25, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ephesians Prysock this early at the 168th pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A tidy little value on Aamil Wagner in Round 6, Pick 1, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
