The Cowboys treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending Round 1, Pick 26 on Jackson Powers-Johnson a full 26 spots early. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Getting Wilson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jackson Powers-Johnson. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Edgerrin Cooper in the 56th overall pick, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They let Johnny Wilson come to them and pounced at the 87th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Darius Robinson at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. A minor need, but a need all the same.
No drama and no debate, Isaiah Davis went about where he belonged in No. 174. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Christian Jones at Round 6, Pick 13 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kenny Logan Jr. in the Round 6 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They reached a country mile for DeMonte Capehart at the 245th pick, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
