The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: TreVeyon Henderson, the No. 55 name on the board, in the 127th overall pick. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The cost of the Griffith reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a true top target at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tate Ratledge at the 58th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A safety of that caliber at the Round 3 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Taking TreVeyon Henderson in pick 127 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid a round early for Dont'e Thornton Jr. in slot 167, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Thor Griffith at the 243rd overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
