Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Ryan Fitzgerald, the No. 117 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 7 slot. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Emeka Egbuka in the Round 1 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Tyler Booker reach the 58th pick and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value with a capital V on Omarr Norman-Lott in slot 89, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Dylan Sampson in pick 127, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Andrew Mukuba at the 167th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Ryan Fitzgerald in Round 7, Pick 27 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
