Somebody in slot 243 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Jordan James, the No. 123 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The cost of the Conner reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Fair-plus on Kenneth Grant, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reach for Xavier Restrepo in No. 58; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Dylan Fairchild at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
TreVeyon Henderson in the 127th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Hayden Conner in the 167th pick, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
