The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Ryan Fitzgerald fell into No. 243.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Higgins has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A slide stopped in Round 1, Pick 25, with Walter Nolen worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jayden Higgins in pick 58 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Tate Ratledge at slot 89 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The roster fit checks out.
A running back of that caliber at No. 127 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Somehow Jake Majors was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It fills a real need, too.
They will replay Ryan Fitzgerald at pick No. 243 for years; that is how good the value is. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
