Call it larceny. KeAndre Lambert-Smith sat on the board until the Round 7 slot, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Chris Paul Jr. in slot 89 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Taking Devin Neal in the Round 4 slot is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ajani Cornelius in pick No. 167 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They will replay KeAndre Lambert-Smith at the 243rd pick for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
