The Texans spent real capital to be 72 picks early on Nazir Stackhouse, and the board is going to hold them to it. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Henderson. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick-by-Pick
A big swing on Isaiah Bond at No. 25, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Dylan Fairchild in the 58th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A running back of that caliber at the Round 3 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nazir Stackhouse at pick No. 127 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached a country mile for Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick 167, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Eric Gregory in slot 243 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
