You build a draft on nights like this. Malachi Moore had no business being available in the Round 4 slot, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Isaiah Bond went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They did well to land Donovan Jackson in the Round 3 slot, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Malachi Moore in Round 4, Pick 26 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Raheim Sanders at pick 167 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Taking CJ West in No. 243 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
