The Texans spent real capital to be 92 picks early on Will Sheppard, and the board is going to hold them to it.
However the rest shakes out, Neal at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a load in the middle at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nothing to complain about; Isaiah Bond went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached into another round for Jared Wilson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Devin Neal all the way to Round 4, Pick 26, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jordan Hancock at the 167th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Value said wait; Will Sheppard in slot 243 says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
