The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jack Kiser fell into the 243rd pick. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They will need Higgins to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jayden Higgins a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jaylin Noel at the 89th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had Hollin Pierce higher than the 127th overall pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Raheim Sanders in pick No. 167 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jack Kiser in Round 7, Pick 25 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
