The Texans went off the board in a big way for Bam Martin-Scott, 86 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
On value alone, Norman-Lott makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
A reach on Armand Membou in the 25th overall pick; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jaylin Noel at pick 58 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Value with a capital V on Devin Neal in No. 89, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Omarr Norman-Lott reach pick No. 127 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jordan Hancock in slot 167 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They reached a country mile for Bam Martin-Scott at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
