Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Texans spent the Round 5 slot on Logan Fano, a name the board had a full 87 spots lower.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Lew. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Emmanuel Pregnon in pick No. 34, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
They went early on Gennings Dunker in Round 2, Pick 6, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Christen Miller in slot 59 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Jacob Rodriguez at the 69th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nicholas Singleton at the 104th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They will replay Connor Lew at pick 106 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Chris McClellan in pick 141 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Logan Fano. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board fumbled Andre Fuller all the way to slot 243, and they scooped it up. A minor need, but a need all the same.
