The Texans went off the board in a big way for Nicholas Singleton, 32 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
On value alone, Hall makes the weekend a net positive. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Emmanuel Pregnon at No. 38 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jake Slaughter in slot 59 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached into another round for Nicholas Singleton, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jude Bowry at pick 95 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Mike Washington Jr. at the 106th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Jaeden Roberts in slot 148, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board had Tanner Koziol higher than the 167th overall pick, and the tight end fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Somehow TJ Hall was still sitting there in pick 243, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
