When a board-topper like Jadarian Price slides to No. 104, you do not overthink it, and the Texans did not. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.28 · Pick 28 · Kenyon Sadiq · TE · rank 17
In pick 28 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end at a price that makes it sweeter.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · Anthony Hill Jr. · LB · rank 38
No drama and no debate, Anthony Hill Jr. went about where he belonged in pick No. 34. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Emmanuel Pregnon · OG · rank 39
A straight-up fair deal on Emmanuel Pregnon at Round 2, Pick 8, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · Lee Hunter · DT · rank 49
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Lee Hunter at No. 59 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Jake Slaughter · C · rank 58
Jake Slaughter at the 69th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Jadarian Price · RB · rank 61
Steal is underselling it; Jadarian Price at slot 104 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.6 · Pick 106 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 112
Nicholas Singleton at the 106th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.1 · Pick 141 · Kaleb Proctor · DL · rank 136
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kaleb Proctor in the Round 5 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.27 · Pick 167 · Travis Burke · OT · rank 173
By-the-book stuff, Travis Burke at pick No. 167 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.27 · Pick 243 · TJ Hall · CB · rank 232
A quiet steal in the Round 7 slot: TJ Hall for less than the market said. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
