The rest of the league had time to spare on Jordan Hall; the Texans did not wait, grabbing him 91 spots ahead at pick No. 243. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Miller.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup weapon at tight end. A clean fit for the roster.
Emmanuel Pregnon in No. 40 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nice patience on Christen Miller, who had no business lasting to the 69th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nicholas Singleton in the 83rd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Dametrious Crownover at pick 141 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid a round early for Matt Gulbin in Round 5, Pick 27, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A quiet steal in the 200th overall pick: Taylen Green for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Toriano Pride Jr. at pick 210, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A big swing on Jordan Hall at pick No. 243, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
