The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Domani Jackson, the No. 176 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 200 like a gift left on the doorstep.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: running back settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 19 they get a mismatch in the passing game at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Emmanuel Pregnon in Round 2, Pick 6 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Christen Miller slipping to the 69th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Mike Washington Jr. at pick No. 83. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
J.C. Davis in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Eric Rivers at pick 167 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Domani Jackson in the 200th pick, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Andre Fuller at No. 243 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
