Houston Texans

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Texans: B-.

The Texans torched the value chart for Le'Veon Moss, taking him 38 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

On value alone, Dixon makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Sonny Styles · LB · rank 21
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a three-down second-level presence, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Emmanuel Pregnon · OG · rank 39
Emmanuel Pregnon at slot 38 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · Lee Hunter · DT · rank 48
Lee Hunter slid further than he should have, and pick 59 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Jake Slaughter · C · rank 55
Nice patience on Jake Slaughter, who had no business lasting to pick No. 69. The roster fit checks out.
R3.32 · Pick 96 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 108
A conviction pick on Nicholas Singleton at the Round 3 slot that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.6 · Pick 106 · Deion Burks · WR · rank 86
You do not let a wide receiver like Deion Burks reach No. 106 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.1 · Pick 141 · J.C. Davis · OT · rank 139
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on J.C. Davis. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.27 · Pick 167 · Albert Regis · DL · rank 170
A straight-up fair deal on Albert Regis at pick 167, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.30 · Pick 170 · Le'Veon Moss · RB · rank 208
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Le'Veon Moss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.27 · Pick 243 · Thaddeus Dixon · CB · rank 220
They barely believed it either: Thaddeus Dixon still on the board at the 243rd pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
