The tape said wait; the Cardinals did not. Howard Cross III went at the 114th pick, a good 49 picks before the board was ready. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They banked enough surplus on Restrepo to cover a lot of smaller sins.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They did well to land Jihaad Campbell in pick 47, just ahead of his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Xavier Restrepo at Round 3, Pick 14. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A real head-scratcher, Howard Cross III in No. 114 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
They reached a country mile for Connor Colby at the 153rd overall pick, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
