The Chiefs treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending No. 133 on Joe Milton III a full 65 spots early. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. Landing Mims that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a blindside protector, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Xavier Legette at No. 64 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Leonard Taylor III in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A big swing on Joe Milton III at the 133rd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Jaheim Bell at par in pick No. 158, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Anthony Gould at Round 5, Pick 36 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
