Trevin Wallace in the Round 7 slot is a quiet win that props up the whole weekend for the Chiefs. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will need Eboigbe to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 32 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid sticker price for Adonai Mitchell in the 35th overall pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy bit of business in the 95th pick, where DJ James graded well above the range. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Justin Eboigbe at No. 139 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
Mason McCormick at pick No. 158 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Tahj Washington at the Round 6 slot, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nothing to complain about; Tanner McLachlan went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They read the board right and Jordan Magee was the payoff at Round 7, Pick 32. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Trevin Wallace at the 253rd pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
