Boards are made to be trusted, and the Cowboys shredded theirs for Joshua Cephus. He came off 50 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. Justin Madubuike gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Hit on Jackson Powers-Johnson and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid up for Jackson Powers-Johnson at Round 1, Pick 24 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
In the 30th overall pick they get an anchor for the defensive front, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Christian Haynes in slot 56 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jonah Elliss at the 61st pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor itch, scratched.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Benson. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Isaac Guerendo in No. 104 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Joe Milton III well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
