Thirty-one other rooms let Sione Vaki slide, and the Packers were the ones holding the card at the 168th overall pick. Highway robbery. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They will need Guerendo to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Byron Murphy II at the Round 1 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Tyler Guyton at par in the 41st overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board fumbled T.J. Tampa all the way to pick 57, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Trey Benson in No. 88 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Mike Sainristil at slot 90. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Ricky Pearsall in pick No. 91 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nice patience on Jarvis Brownlee Jr., who had no business lasting to the 126th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Sione Vaki at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Javon Baker slid further than he should have, and Round 6, Pick 28 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It fills a real need, too.
A reach on Kenny Logan Jr. in the 216th overall pick; the board had better options right there. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Christian Jones is a better player than pick 224 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Isaac Guerendo at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 31 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
