Nobody else had Roman Hemby anywhere near Round 7, Pick 3. The Raiders did, by 134 spots, and that gap is the whole story. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Whatever Fernando Mendoza becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Everette. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 1 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value.
They did well to land Denzel Boston in Round 2, Pick 4, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the safety. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Steal is underselling it; Daylen Everette at the 108th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Treydan Stukes at pick 117 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
DeMonte Capehart at No. 134 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value said wait; Taylen Green in the 170th overall pick says they were not listening. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Dominic Zvada at Round 5, Pick 35 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
They talked themselves into Riley Nowakowski at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
Kaelon Black at the 208th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
A big swing on Roman Hemby at No. 219, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Keyshaun Elliott in pick No. 226 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
