The Packers went off the board in a big way for Austin Reed, 72 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Oladapo pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper at No. 41 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor itch, scratched.
Kingsley Suamataia at slot 58 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A reach for Cole Bishop in pick No. 88; a little patience would have been rewarded. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Value said wait; Ben Sinnott in Round 3, Pick 28 says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They reached into another round for Hunter Nourzad, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Elijah Jones at the 126th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where Johnny Wilson graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They let Kitan Oladapo come to them and pounced at Round 5, Pick 33. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
A real head-scratcher, Austin Reed in No. 202 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
