The Chiefs spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Nehemiah Pritchett, the No. 143 name on the board, in the 173rd overall pick. The bottom line is a respectable B.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nice patience on Xavier Worthy, who had no business lasting to pick 64. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Khyree Jackson at Round 3, Pick 32 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Johnny Wilson in No. 132 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let a safety like Beau Brade reach the 159th pick and blink. They did not. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board fumbled Nehemiah Pritchett all the way to pick No. 173, and they scooped it up. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
